Mammograms and Pap Smears

Women who are 50 and over should receive a mammogram.

If you have a family history of breast cancer, you should let your physician know so that he or she can schedule your mammograms appropriately. If you have a family history, your physician may recommend a mammogram earlier or more frequently.

Mammograms can detect abnormal changes in your breasts. Detecting these changes early can help save your life! Please don't wait. Get your mammogram annually!

The MedStar Family Choice Outreach Department will contact you through letters or phone calls to remind you to get this service if we see that you have not received your mammogram. If you need assistance with scheduling this test, please contact us at 1-800-905-1722 and we will be happy to help you.

Pap Smears

Women who are 18 and older should receive a Pap Smear. Your doctor can help you determine how often you need this test based on your age and previous test results. If you need assistance or additional information about this test, please contact our Outreach Department at 1-800-905-1722.
